#GeorgeInvasion - The nightlife

The nightlife is quite interesting in George. It seems like there is not much integration between races. The clubs are either 95% white or 99% coloured. Lol. Nevertheless we tried out both sides of the nightlife that George has to offer. The Friday night we went to a place called, Boulevard. This was all smoke, hectic strobe lights and lots of techno "doef doef" type of music. Needless to say we weren't drunk enough for this...

You can even see the smokiness in the pictures. After a while we couldn't breathe and decided to rather go chill at home.

The Saturday evening after a braai and watching the rugby game at Shenanigans we went to try another spot...Favoured by the coloureds...Named Nitro. The music was good, but the crowd was a tadbit too much for us..

And look we even had a colour theme going with our outfits. Totally unplanned, promise!

After some drinkies and ten seconds of dancing we moved on to Zanzibar, where we had a ball of a time!!! We even did a mini photoshoot. Hehehe!

I had a giggle when I saw this sign by the bathrooms...

And then to perfectly round up the evening we had a mini reunion...
Do you remember this guy, from our last trip to George?

Well Jade spotted him at Zanzibar and I was like "No way Jade, that can not be him". And in the end Jade was right, it was him and obviously we had to take another pic together!!!

This time around his hair was longer and he didn't look as wasted as that first time we met him, he even gave us a smile. The rest of the night was spent dancing to a range of classic tracks from Grease and some fun Michael Jackson tunes.

So in a nutshell that is what the nightlife of George has to offer. Absolutely great trip. Thank you Enray and Lionel for being such awesome friends and hosts. Can't wait to come visit again!!!

#GeorgeInvasion

Good morning all,
This post is long overdue, but I finally have a moment to sit down and put my thoughts together about the awesomeness of our George trip.

Okay so at the end of last month Boyf and I packed our bags and got onto a bus to George. "City Girl" who has a 'real' job now, unfortunately couldn't take the day of so she was to mission through to George after work. So here is what went down:

There was drinking Guinness at an Irish inspired pub, named Shenanigans...

...where they referred to us as 2 coloured couples on the bill, so discriminating, yet so obvious, since we were probably the only coloured people in the place.

Then there was "wetting our feet" at the beach. The water was divine and Jade couldn't get enough of it. You would swear there is no beaches here in Cape Town. I have to admit it helped that the water there wasn't freezing...

Jade and I had to make it obvious that we are from Cape Town, not wanting to leave our bags unattended. Lol!

After this followed some local beer tasting at Misty Meadows (hope I got the name right)...

...where we made friends with horsies.

In between all of this we were feeling and acting like kids...

That was part 1 of our #GeorgeInvasion. Look out for the post of what else went down...a.k.a the nightlife!!!

Make lemons, people!!!

I loooove me some Modern Family. I'm especially fond of Phil Dunphy. When I watched the episode of season 4, with "Phil's-osphy", I found my new motto for life...

I couldn't stop laughing and it is now stuck in my head forever!
Thanks Phil Dunphy...now let me go make some lemons! Hehehe!

VDay Surprise!

Okay, okay!!! I know this post is a few days late, but bare with me. I had a problem with my camera's usb cable which now miraciously seems to be working again.

Anywho, back to the post.
So I'm not big on Valentine's day at all, meaning Boyf and I never do those soppy gift exchanging, going for dinner vibes on the day. I did spot this "mahoosive" fortune cookie at Woolworth though, and bought it just because I found a fortune cookie on steriods so bizarre.

It was delicious and the fortune predicted made me laugh!!!

My boss, also decided to spread some love, by putting together a little goodiebag with sweet treats for all of us. Too cute. Thanks, Bosslady!!! I did eat the Lindt before I got a chance to take the pictures, because who can resist Lindt?!

Casablanca meets Bollywood...

A few weeks back I heard that Jimmy Nevis will be performing at Casablanca. Now Jimmy is one of South Africa's latest musicians. His debut song, Elephant shoes was quite a hit.

and a few others followed. I've never really been a fan, but his music is enjoyable and hey we were on the guestlist, so of course we saw this as the perfect opportunity to paaaarty!!!

After his performance of only 3 songs, the real party started...Jade and I celebrated her new employee status with some bubbles... and several glasses of Jameson and Lemonade.

And then there was taking pics of ourselves...

Which turned into taking pictures with guys from "out of town"...
Cue the cast of a Bollywood movie:

The one above claimed that he is not a drinker, but yet he downed this with me...

The evening was super fun and I'm already looking forward to our next adventure.
