5 Things I've learnt recently!

1. Appreciate your health.

With my whole wrist injury escapade, I've realised that ever so often we forget how blessed we are to be healthy. I've never realised how much I actually depend on my left hand. Lol. Try buttoning your jeans using only one hand. So, with not being able to use my hand properly for more than 2 weeks now, I'm grateful that it is just a temporary glitch and that I'll be able to have full use of it in the near future.

2. Value your job

Last week I had a retrenchment scare. Lucky for me I was chosen to stay, but it could've gone the other way very easily. This also showed me that hard work pays off and always try to better your knowledge and skills, because even though it might not look like it now, it will defenitely be benificial to you in the future.

3. Always expect the unexpected

Ever so often we get comfortable with what we doing, our job, our way of living. To refer back to the retrenchment thing, I thought I was safe and that there was no chance of loosing my job, well unless I screwed up of course, and see how that changed in a space of a week. So for future I will simply expect the unexpected. It's more exciting like that anyway!

4. Learn to let go and don't hold yourself back

I stumbled across an interesting blogpost in this week and after reading it, it just made me realise that there is some things in life that you just have to embrace and move on. Read the post HERE.

5. Wear happy colours

In my last year at varsity I did a mini thesis on the effect of colour on a person's mood. Basically it stated  that we dress according to how we feel emotionially in terms of the colours of the garments and so on and so forth. I utilised the basics of this theory and changed it around. With everything going down recently I wasn't feeling as chirpy as I should, so I put on some stockings and shoes in happy colours and I felt my mood improve through out the day. Try it, I promise you will see the difference.

There you have it, my life lessons for the week. What have you learnt lately?

Wall of happiness!

Here is a looksie at part of my desk area at work. When I feel down or when I feel like strangling someone, I look up to this area and I start feeling better! I'm not sure if it is Marilyn starring at me or the neon pink of myinspiration board, or maybe the awesome quote on the board: "Be so happy, that when others look at you, they become happy too." Wish I knew who came up with those inspiring words.
Perhaps it is just a mix of all of the above...

How to have fun with a sprained wrist!

1. Have dinner with a friend at a mexican restaurant.

Yummy giant Chillitos

2.Laugh about and at the same time admire the authentic mexican accents of the cute waiters.

3. Go to a club where everyone seems to be younger than you. Laugh at how the guys dance and at the ubershort hemlines of the girls' dresses.

4. Get shots named after decadent desserts such as Tiramasu and Milktart.

5. Make friends with a foreigner that you meet en route to the next spot.

The foreigner

6. Go to the spot where the foreigner and his friends are, even though you usually never party there and end up having an awesome time.

7. Go to your old favourite club, where you are practically part of the furniture and take pics of and with a stranger.

The stranger with the same name as someone from Jade's past

8. Hang out, act crazy and have a "1litre" shot of tequila/jagermeister with the club staff as doors close.

9. Recover for most part of Saturday.

10. Have icecream in the car while reminiscing over the weekends happenings and facebook stalk previously mentioned foreigner  with your friend.

What was up with the universe on Saturday?

I think this past Saturday the universe was trying to screw with me. My day and night was all planned and I was thoroughly looking forward to it. Boyfriend and I were going to start with breakfast at a local spot, move along to the Waterfront to have lunch with his parents and then go chill at the bar while watching some rugby, until it was time to go get ready for an evening out. Instead it went a little something like this:

So woke up and didn't do the breakfast thing. Instead sorted out some cards that I haven't done yet since my little wallet mishap. Shooted through to Waterfront, because we didn't want to be late for the lunch with the parentels. We  get a message, lunch was now cancelled. *insert sigh here*. I am now starved, so we decide to go get some seafood at Ocean basket. That was yummmmm!

We get to the bar. It turns out the game is starting later than we thought. After  two drinks I decide that I would rather go home and get some rest, because loooong evening of funzies are waiting for me.

Then I get a message from Jade. She is now cancelling on me...*insert dissapointment here*. Weather sucks, I have to re-evaluate my outfit. We get to Vacca Matta, boyfriend can't go in, cause he is wearing the wrong shoes. *insert frustration here*. We now have to go back to his friend's place for shoes.

Shoe change

En route the car's oil light switches on and makes a hell of as noise...
I'm thinking we going to get stuck on the side of the road and I'm going to miss the MiCasa performance. We didn't though, we did witness the aftermath of two car accidents, however.

We got back to the club and the party started. I enjoyed the vibe and the music and was overjoyed when MiCasa finally got onto the stage.

I even took a picture with a Stormers rugby player, I had no idea who he was, but boyfriend seemed excited to see him in person, though.

Jean de Jongh

And pose...

Everybody dance now!!!

But the universe just couldn't let me go. I was still on a high from all the MiCasa jams and the next thing I know I'm on the floor, one girl handing me my shoes, another trying to help me up. Somehow I slipped, fell and sprained my wrist. Really universe, Really!!!!???!!!

So I am typing this post with one hand...*insert another sigh here*.

Okay that was enough moaning for one day! Promise next post will be more positive!
