Hip, hip, hoooooray! IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

So on Saturday morning, as was expected, I woke up with a killer hangover. The only thing that made me feel slightly better, was breakfast from the boyfriend and seeing all the awesome gifts I received. Between constant phonecalls and messages I managed to sleep it off and later ventured out to stock up on some alcohol for further birthday festivities and a late lunch.

My semi-hungover, 26 year old face! hehehehe

After lunch I managed to squeeze in a mini rest, before my brother and friends arrived at my place. After several drinks and interesting conversations, we finally left the flat for some club hopping in Long Street.

Not too long into the hole dancing thing, Jade and I went to get a bite to eat. I think we have a thing for getting pizza from Clay Oven everytime we hit Long Street.

It was in between mouthfuls of bacon, avo and jalapeno pizza that we decided to ditch the boys and go check out the rest of Long Street on our own and that is when the real fun began!

Puppet on a string? LOL!

OH and look we even met a Katt Williams look-alike...

And then there was this little curly head guy...We initially referred to him as Jaden Smith, but after further investigation I think he has more a resemblence to Corbin Bleu Reivers from High School Musical fame.

We finally left the club when it was closing time...Aah so much fun, too little time! And now I'm another year older and I look forward to what is yet to come.

My pre-birthday: Bring on the party!!!

I spent the Friday evening at the local bar, Rendesvouz, where I'm practically part of the furniture. LOL! I figured since I won't be able to be with my real family, I might as well share the festivities with my "bar" family. It was super fun, I even got flowers from a random guy at the bar.

Here I am finishing my "birthday" drink, a minute after 12...

After this it was dancing, pool, kareoke and all around craziness...And so 26 started for me!

My weekend kicked off with a few "almost" birthday drinks with some of my collegues at Sinns Restaurant, early Friday afternoon. It was super relaxing, hanging out with them in a non-work environment...We really don't do it enough!

Here is some of the yummy cocktails we had...

Yes! That is actual jellybeans!

This one is called, Pornstar martini.. I like the touch with the shot of bubbly!

And naturally with drinks comes snacks...It was the first time I've ever had nacho's without guacamole. I enjoyed it though.

That is how my birthday festivities started...

This is what being 25 have taught me...

Today is my last day of being 25 and last night I decided to sit down and take stock of what the past year have taught me! I thought I'd share some of points on my list with you, so here goes:

1. A positive attitude is the key to success!
2. You never too old to learn something new.
3. If you are unhappy, do something to change the situation or simply deal with it and move on.
4. It's okay to fail your driver's licence test, once even twice...Important thing is that you don't give up and keep on trying untill you pass!
5. It's normal to feel like you want to kill your boyfriend every once in a while. Just don't actually kill him, because no one looks good in jail attire. Lol!

Have a lovely Friday!

"City Girl" - POST Grad!

Graduation Day finally arrived, and off I went with my Black Sequined Dress, and Gorgeous Pink ankle strap stilettos in toe- TOATS EXCITE!

Black Sequined dress - YDE, Shoes - My little secret (hehehe)

Ok so maybe the journey leading to my graduation was not as glam as the day of, but be sure all the perseverance and sacrifice totally paid off! The ceremony started off with the you-sh mundane speeches (sigh), but soon after we were graced with the presence of a delightful opera-like singer who also happened to be a fellow graduate, who belted out the tune of …Wait for it… I CAN GO THE DISTANCE… yes, the Hercules movie theme song, lol! Although I do admit, the words of the song are highly appropriate for the said occasion, I still found myself finding the humour in the event  organisers choosing this particular song from an animation movie to be sung to bunch of 21-50 year olds finally completing their studies. (Seriously?!)

Anyway I took this meaning quite personally and thought about how this song was appropriate for my life; going the distance. Not only venturing into the future and prospering academically, but venturing out for ‘the love of fashion’ as well. And let me add searching for the perfect outfit for this memorable occasion, definitely had me going the distance, it took me about a month to find grad attire, and it took me about 153km of driving back and forth, the Friday before, to attain it all. Ultimately, I feel a combination of the two, being success and fashion, would always prove going the distance, to be worth it. So I’ll leave you with this….

“And I won't look back, I can go the distance
And I'll stay on track, no, I won't accept defeat
It's an uphill slope, but I won't lose hope
Till I go the distance, and my journey is complete”
…………….. Lyrics from the ‘Go The Distance’

A touch of granny!

On Friday evening I went for sushi with the boyfriend. The outfit I wore was a tadbit granny, but I loved it. After too many pieces of sushi, the belt had to go, because I could barely breathe. LOL!

Saturday was a day of shopping and Sunday was a day of resting. I did manage to make some fudge from scratch. It was the first time I have ever made fudge and I it was delicious, even if I have to say so myself!

Have a lovely Monday everyone!

Bag envy!!!

For the first time ever I decided to spend my easter weekend in Cape Town. I usually go visit my mom in Beaufort West, but not this time. I have to admit, it wasn't one of my best choices. The weekend was depressing for most part. All that rain just made me want to stay in bed, eat and watch movies. On Sunday, boyfriend and I finally went out for some drinks and it was still raining, so I was in no mood to even take a picture of my outfit. I did however spot this beauty below on the arm of a lovely lady. I had serious bag envy when I saw this one.

So if anybody would like to buy me a gift, I would not mind becoming an owner of one of these. Lol.

I also quite enjoyed this girl's lipcolour...A great accessory to a plain black outfit.

Check out this little sweet surprise that we received from bosslady this morning!!! Yummy...(By the time I finish with this post, both would have dissapeared. Lol!).

Have a lovely weekend spent with family and happy eating!!!

Style spotting #1

While having a ball of a time at ZAR on friday night, we did some style spotting! Bow detail was a firm favourite. Check out these fashionable people striking a pose...

(Excuse the quality of the last pics...It was taken towards the end of the evening. *winkwink*)

Saturday: ZAR aftermath!

I was surprised at how decent we looked when we woke up on Saturday morning. I had to get ready for part 2 of the vida and mis.sella sale and dragged Jade with me.
First stop was Clicks for some Vitamin water, my new hangover cure, amongst other things. While assisting customers we started craving some fatty foods and when we eventually left the building after 12pm our minds were set on Mariam’s Kitchen. All we wanted was a samoosa for starters and a masala steak gatsby to round it all off. Oh and it was soooo worth it!

Soon after that we ventured down Kloofnek road to go check out another sale. Unfortunately I didn’t find anything, but Jade walked out with quite a few garments on her arm, literally!  We found it a bit funny that they didn’t offer us a carrier bag to put the purchases in. Jade then decided to make it look less dodgy and just wrapped all of the garments in a dress. Lol!

We did decide to forgive them in the end though, only because they were so friendly and offered us a glass of bubbles while we shopped.

Naturally we were thirsty after all the venturing and we popped in by Fat Cactus for a jug of margarita…Yum yum! And of course a snack, because somehow Jade was hungry, again. I have no idea how a little person can eat so much. (No offense my friend!)

Lack of sleep eventually catched up with me and after Jade left my place around 7, I was lights out. So atleast I did my bit for earth hour…hehehe!
